Travel in time with Tetley
With 37% of over 65’s dehydrated on admission into care ; hydration is a topic of upmost importance within residential care. Insight shows that care caterers are actively seeking out support to help them implement best practice, so with this in mind Tetley have teamed up with Brakes to deliver an impactful schedule of hydration focused events and activities for the year ahead.
Tea is best enjoyed when socialising, so getting residents together over a warming cuppa is a great way to keep them connected with each other, staff and visitors. This month, in celebration of Nutrition & Hydration Week 2018 and the Global Tea Party on 14th March, we hosted a delicious Afternoon Tea at the Shaw Healthcare Maitland Park Care Home in Camden. The event was a great success with carers and residents coming together to enjoy an afternoon of entertainment with a 1940s singer and our very own Gaffer getting his groove on!
The event also kick started the launch of the all-new Tetley Hydration Kits, created in collaboration with Brakes. From helping carers spot the signs of insufficient hydration, to dispelling myths regarding caffeine, the Hydration Kits are an extension of the Hydration Handbook launched last year. Taking residents on a journey through the decades, the kit is designed to spark conversation and encourage them to reminisce about the past. From 1913 when the first crossword puzzle was published to the Queen’s Coronation in 1953, the kit includes recipes, activity sheets, nostalgic games and POS, all designed to help care homes plan their activity calenders and most importantly keep residents healthy & hydrated.
As champions of the importance of hydration within care homes, Tetley is proud to be Premier Partners of the National Association of Care Home Caterers (NACC) and will be attending the Training Development Forum in October with the Tetley Tea cart for a second year.
