The Café Life Awards 2017
This year marked the eighth year of The Café Life Awards - a nod to the continued growth of both excellence and innovation across the UK café and coffee bar sector. Located in central London's Grange City Hotel and hosted by celebrity chef Theo Randall, the night was full of delicious food and much celebration.
Judged by a panel of independent experts, the awards aimed to identify and reward leaders each sector of the industry. From food and drink challenges - including DaVinci Gourmet's Speciality Drink Challenge - to design, new product and equipment awards, first place individuals were recognised for their success as well as their innovation. Judging took place all day in association with The Lunch! Show - congratulations to all of the winners and everyone on the hard fought shortlist!
An exciting announcement made at the awards was the re-launch of the Café Society, now to be known as The Café Life Association. This retailer-driven body supports high standards in the industry and represents the interests of the sector to Government, providing guidance and support to all its members. The committee is made up of individuals across the sector, ensuring it covers all aspects of the diverse UK café and coffee bar universe.
One thing we mustn't forget to discuss is the menu for the evening! Plum tomato and Buffalo mozzarella served with basil pesto and an aged balsamic reduction kicked off proceedings, followed by a pan fried filled of Scottish Salmon, served with seasoned veg and a creamy parsley sauce. A scrumptious dessert of dark chocolate mousse delice, served with vanilla ice cream was next, followed by a variety of cheese from Norseland, coffee and petit fours to close. A tasty supper enjoyed by all and a little dancing to end the evening of celebrations - here's to 2018 The Café Life Awards lunch event, at its new home at the Kensington Roof Gardens!
