IFE 2015 - UK's largest Food & Drink event
As the biennial four-day International Food and Drink Exhibition (IFE) at London’s ExCeL Centre drew to a triumphant close on Wednesday 25th March, the memory will live on for many exhibitors, visitors and buyers and, of course, for us too.
The Hub managed the Press Office for IFE 2015. Over four days the UK’s largest food and drink event saw visitors from more than 127 countries, as well as products showcased by 57 different nations. The exhibition drew lots of excitement with visits from a number of VIP guests including, DEFRA Minister George Eustice MP, a Saudi Arabian Prince, the Mayor of Cork and a Minister from the Welsh office. There were also a number of well-known faces including, the ever-popular Gruffalo and Jamaican hot sauce legend, Levi Roots.
We released well over 50 features and press releases before the event and to-date, have delivered more than 70 media features… and rising! We had an increase in 41% of Twitter followers on the @IFEexhibition account since we started in November 2014. In January, February and March, we also ran Twitter Parties to get exhibitors, visitors, buyers and the media networking and to raise excitement about coming to the event, creating total impressions for #ifeTweetUp of 1.7 million!
Prior to the exhibition, over 400 press had registered for the event, including the BBC, ITN, BBC Radio 4 and the Huffington Post, as well as many of our friends from across the trade press itself. Over the four days, the Press Office was heaving, with more than 100 press passing through, asking questions and sourcing show information.
As IFE 2015 teamed with Waste Works, it was appropriate to keep the Press Office entirely paper-free. We did this by setting up an electronic press release bank that we could keep constantly up-to-date with exhibitor press packs, images and our own press releases. This went down well with the press, as it meant that they could access the link from anywhere and could access all current press material from the day’s events, as well as photos, videos, testimonials and more.
IFE has seen plenty of emerging trends, which hint towards many exciting developments across the food and beverage industry through the rest of 2015 and into 2016. These trends include the growth of seaweed as well as a distinct move towards coconut products, following the previous success of coconut water.
The exhibition also saw a packed agenda of world-renowned chefs demonstrating their culinary skills, a stellar line-up of industry experts sharing their insight as well as numerous networking and buyer opportunities for exhibitors and visitors alike.
It has been an amazing exhibition to work on, with a wonderful group of people at Fresh Montgomery. Bring on the next event…!!>
