A world of coffee
The speciality coffee world gathered in Gothenburg on 16 - 18 June for the annual iconic World of Coffee expo and The Hub was there to connect with top baristas, roasters, coffee lovers and key players in the coffee industry from around the world. Welcoming over 5,000 visitors through the door, the exciting three-day event was packed full of seminars, talks, awards, festivals and an exhibition hall featuring some of the latest innovations in the coffee arena.
Supporting our client DaVinci Gourmet, The Hub created a stand with a relaxed café style environment; depicting the autumn hot beverage opportunity through the brand’s seasonal style guide and recipe inspirations, using the autumnal flavours across the DaVinci range.
Between manning the stand and serving visitors some aspirational drinks, we took in some of the latest trends showcased at the event. One thing that stood out in particular was the continued importance of sustainability and trading to the coffee world. With consumers now more aware than ever about where their food and drink comes from, suppliers have to up their game. Most interesting was Algrano, an independent player in the coffee industry with a mission to improve how coffee is traded, bringing people closer by offering them the tools to communicate and exchange directly. Their passion and prowess paying off as they won the coveted Best New Technology & IT Innovation award at the show.
A key attraction feature of the show was the Micro Lot Marketplace, which allowed independent and small roasters the time to shine. It provided a platform where visitors can meet small roasters, baristas and direct traders, to sample hand-brewed coffee from special micro lots.
Across the three action packed days were various competitions, challenging the very best of the profession, from World Cup Tasters, World Coffee Roasting, World Brewers Cup, World Latte Art and World Coffee in Good Spirits – a fascinating rivalry of skill, art and science to be spectated.
It was a fantastic opportunity for The Hub to mingle with the coffee community on an international level – a blend of business, education, inspiration and networking – a coffee lovers paradise.
And Da Vinci Gourmet had an amazing successful event to boot. All in all a good week was had by all.
Until next year – FARVEL!
