Event Director at Fresh Montgomery

What brings you into the world of exhibitions and particularly hospitality?

It wasn’t a conscious decision, but every job I’ve had since graduating in 2000 has been drinks, food, hospitality and events, so it must have been meant to be. Both my parents and grandparents worked in the hotel and foodservice world, so that may have had something to do with it!

What can the industry expect from the re-branded Hotel, Restaurant & Catering (HRC) show in 2020?

It can expect to benefit from a £150,000 investment being made in the industry’s first buyer’s club. Over 500 of the nation’s leading buyers will be invited to benefit from dedicated content at the show as well as complimentary travel and accommodation. That and the arrival of Crossrail, which will make the venue 10 minutes from central London.

What’s your golden tip for exhibitors – and which brands stand out to you for hosting great on-show events?

Be engaging before a show, during and after, otherwise you are paying a lot of money to stand for three days and you will leave disappointed. The clients who make the effort to promote themselves effectively and talk to people in the aisles are the ones who get the best results.

If you could host any expo event in your wildest dreams, what would its aim be, where would it take place and why would visitors want to attend?

The International Tapas Exhibition. The aim would be to eat an item at every stand, it would be in Granada and the question would be why wouldn’t they want to attend!
