Caffè Culture celebrated the 12th edition of the show this month and a team of Hubbies went along to explore the latest in the trade and discover how the landscape is expected to change in the future. Oh - and of course we also HAD to try the delicious samples and tasters from the vast array of exhibitors!
FOR THE 2017 EDITION OF THE SHOW THE HUBBIES SPOTTED THREE BIG TRENDS:
• Discarding dairy
• Barista vs machine
• Health, health, health
Amidst the flourishing milk-alternative world, a prominent product that also exhibited at Caffè Culture is Oatly. The brand markets itself as something worth putting in your coffee and champion the title of inventors the oat drink. The Oatly range is entirely plant-based and perfect for those with milk and nut allergies, lactose intolerant individuals, vegans and people who simply don’t like cows milk. In addition, comparing Oatly to cow’s milk, the oat drink creates 80% fewer green house gases, takes up 79% less land usage and uses 60% less energy usage.
At the show the Oatly team were showcasing the Barista Edition – a light oat drink which foams flawlessly, enabling baristas – and non-baristas – to show if their coffee skills. They presented an insightful master class to guide operators on making the perfect coffee using dairy-free alternatives.
Oatly is an eye opening and tasty milk alternative, and something that will unquestionably become a regular in The Hub fridge from now on!
