The weird and wonderful, for one night only at Supperclub..
Voted one of the best bars in the world, Supperclub is a must visit for anybody visiting Amsterdam. It’s been on my radar to visit for a while, so finding myself in the Dutch city recently, I knew I had to go!
A range of different concepts rolled into one, one thing is certain, a visit to Supperclub is a totally unique experience and unlike anything I have ever experienced before!
Upon arrival, you’re met with a large room, full of huge white beds, coloured lights and edgy graphics. Once taken to our seats - or should I say beds - it was time to take our shoes off, get comfortable and enjoy what was to come. We found it slightly odd being sat on a bed next to strangers for dinner, but after 5 minutes, that all fades away (I also didn’t expect dining on a bed would be so comfortable!)
The cocktails were delicious, but the food really was amazing. In total you get 6 courses. The first course was smoked swordfish with lentils, cucumber, anti boise and saffron yoghurt. This was followed by Canadian wild rice, parsnip, carrots, sunflower seeds and vadouvan hollandaise, then scallops, cauliflower, kohlrabi, romanesco, caval nero and kalamansi as the third course. The last savoury course – my favourite - was a duck breast fillet, celeriac, apple, shi-take, chicory and la ratte potato.
To end this fabulous feast, next up was passionfruit bavarois and coconut foam as the dessert amuse. This was followed by the most delicious salty caramel, peanut powder, chocolate mousse and peanut ice-cream.
Between courses there were a variety of weird and wonderful acts, all incredibly entertaining that really kept you engaged throughout the evening. This really added to the experience of Supperclub and it is hard to put into words quite what we saw that night, but let me tell you it was fantastic! Our night ended singing along with the drag act, whilst up dancing on the beds with our fellow diners.
With wonderful food, fantastic entertainment and attentive staff, I couldn’t recommend SupperClub anymore and cannot wait to go back again!
