Sprinkle a little festive magic into your cocktails this Christmas.
Whether you’re hosting a festive event, or cosying up by an open fire, make sure you’re enjoying a cocktail with a Christmas kick whilst you’re doing it.
Mulled Wine Cocktail
Served as a traditional winter warmer or, controversially poured over ice, this is a classic crowd pleaser. Start by mixing cinnamon, star anise and cloves in a pan with water, then add sugar, lemon juice and clementine and bring to the boil. Create that festive flavour by adding 150ml of Cointreau and a bottle of light red wine. Served as a traditional winter warmer or, controversially poured over ice, this is a classic crowd pleaser. Raspberry Martini Fizz
Mix Martini Rosso and gin together and chill. Pour the Martini mixture over a little icing sugar and mix together. Add some frozen raspberries and top with sparkling wine to create a sophisticated, colourful glass of fizz. Fizz can still be fun without the alcohol! Mix together orange juice and cranberry juice and slowly pour in a sparkling elderflower presse and serve in champagne glasses for a booze-free version.
This chic recipe is a classic all year round but can be updated for a Christmas twist. Mix vodka and ginger wine into a jug, add cranberry juice and lime juice with some ginger and stir altogether. Pour into a martini glass, garnish with a little lime zest and you’re good to go! Offer a healthy, non-alcoholic option alongside your Cosmo, by mixing cranberry juice with orange and lime juices. Add frozen cranberries to the mix and garnish with lime, orange and mint, top with Appletise and your designated driver is sure to be happy!
Pour a ¼ oz of each into a glass: white crème de cacao, sloe gin, brandy and light cream in that order to create a perfect ‘after dinner’ or ‘cosy up on the sofa’ cocktail. This one is truly indulgent! For those who don’t want any more alcohol for the rest of the evening, or who just want to indulge in a warm drink to see them through to bed time, peppermint hot chocolate is a winner. Mixing melted chocolate with milk and cream is a drink everyone can enjoy, add a peppermint candy cane to your mug and let it dissolve into the hot chocolate.
Winter Pimm’s Punch
Pimm’s doesn’t have to just be for summer, grab a big bowl, combine the Pimm’s with brandy and apple juice, top with ice, cinnamon, sliced apple and orange and let everyone help themselves to a festive punch. Make a non-alcoholic version by bringing apple juice, ground cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla extract to a gentle simmer. When warm, add vanilla ice cream and whisk until frothy. Pour into mugs and you have a perfect apple pie punch
